If you are not hearing the name Burkard Bovenzipen and the name Alpina for the first time, this post is for you 👌

Let's talk about the history of a great automobile company that started very, very simply.

It all started in the early 1960s with an ordinary Fiat 1500, 70 horsepower of which was not enough for Burkard.
Then in Turin, he ordered the engine to be modified in the famous Nardi workshop, but after only 50 km, the bearing in the engine blew apart.
From that moment, a decision was made to pump up the car on its own.

After fully studying the engine, improvements were made, but Fiat was not adapted to this. Next, Burkard chose the then popular multi-series BMW 1500.
A "tuning kit" was quickly created that could be installed - bolt on - in a few hours in the garage and added 15% of engine power.

Such a kit gained popularity only a year later, when BMW officially confirmed its high quality and did not revoke the warranty for the modified car.

After that, the relationship between the already large BMW company and Burkard Bovenzipen improved.
Each subsequent car model was improved and in 1965 Burkard registered a company called Alpina, which had only 6 employees.

The first car that could be called an Alpina was BMW 2002, where almost everything, from the engine to the interior, could be changed to order.

It was BMW 2002 under the supervision of Alpina that began to win first places in motorsport. Subsequently, after the successes, the development of a new sports car based on the E9 began, which was called the BMW 3.0 CSL, weighing 1270 kg and 200 horsepower in 1972.

After great success and popularity, BMW created its division M - Motorsport. Despite its relevance and fame, Alpina moved away from sports and in 1978 presented the first independent car based on the BMW 3 E21, which was reassembled and improved. Up to 100 km in just 7 seconds and a maximum speed of 230 km/h.

The next car was a BMW 5 E12 with a turbocharged engine, which had 300 horsepower and acceleration to 100 in 6 seconds.
However, due to scrupulousness, quality and exclusivity, only 149 cars were produced.

The company never tried to make a profit. Safety, comfort and attention to detail are Alpina's top priorities.
